About AKA Players

AKA Players is the not for profit performing arm of Dragontrails Drama School, a program that aims to train young actors of every skill and interest level.  By casting youth in every role, AKA Players fosters an environment where young actors can grow in their craft, whether they are looking for a career in the arts or to use theatre as a creative outlet.

At AKA Players we also strive to reach out to a youth audience.  AKA Players productions are presented to school groups in order to interest children and teens in the theatre by making theatre, from pantomimes to Shakespeare, accessible to everyone.

Each AKA production includes: an introduction to the theatre for those in the audience who may never have seen a live show before, an informative talk about the play itself to be sure that everyone in attendance is familiar with the time period and play, and a talk back session afterward with the actors.  This talk back not only provides the audience with the opportunity to ask questions about the play itself but it also allows for peer to peer discussion about acting and the work the young actors have done to put the show together, hopefully inspiring the audience to see that they too could explore their artistic side on stage.

At AKA Players we believe that an education in theatre and acting is about more than just putting on a play.  Students who study drama also learn many other skills including; socialization, cooperation, creative expression, consensus decision-making and appropriate risk-taking.  Drama also encourages the participants to read, enjoy language, enlarge their vocabulary and express themselves more articulately.

Because AKA Players operates as a not for profit group, our tickets are priced to simply cover our production costs.
